Nathaniel J. Bent, DDS
Practice Owner/Principal Dentist
Dr. Bent is the practice owner and principal dentist at Barksdale Dental. His practice philosophy is to provide predictable quality dentistry in a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. In 2004, Dr. Bent graduated from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery at the University of Maryland. Upon graduation, he completed a one-year General Practice Residency at Christiana Care Health System in Wilmington, Delaware. Dr. Bent has an undergraduate degree from St. Mary’s College in Maryland. As a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and the Delaware State Dental Society, Dr. Bent completes more than 25 hours of continuing education each year to stay current on innovative practices available in modern dentistry. Dr. Bent lives in Wilmington with his wife, Maggie, and two children, William and Lizzie. He enjoys outdoor activities, golf, traveling, music, and art, but especially enjoys parenthood and spending time with his family. Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, Dr. Bent has also lived in Long Beach, CA and Towson, MD before moving to Delaware.
Dr. Neil McAneny
Previous Dentist
After 54 dedicated years in dentistry, Dr. McAneny officially retired in May 2026. He first began the Barksdale Dental practice in 1980 and transitioned to part-time work after handing the keys to Dr. Nathaniel Bent in 2014 with complete confidence.
Dr. McAneny extends his heartfelt gratitude to his wonderful patients, exceptional staff, and professional colleagues who supported his general family practice over the decades. Mindy
Registered Dental Hygienist
Mindy is a native Delawarean who has been part of the Barksdale Dental team since receiving her dental hygiene degree in 1999. She had aspirations of pursuing a dental hygiene career since high school wanting to be in a health-related field and having a passion for dentistry. She enjoys the relationships built caring for the same patients since the beginning of her career. She loves being part of a hardworking team where everyone strives to make patients feel at ease while achieving their optimum oral health. Mindy is married, has one daughter, and lives in Newark.

Jenn
Billing Coordinator
Jenn is an enthusiastic and friendly front desk associate with experience providing administrative support and customer service to patients and staff. Before joining the team here at Barksdale, Jenn had a career in Banking and Finance. Jenn strives to provide excellent customer service and build relationships, helping patients with questions and issues. When she is not in the office, Jenn enjoys reading and spending time with her husband and two daughters.
Yanni
Patient Care Coordinator
Yanni is a Texas native but has lived in Delaware most of her life. She graduated from Delcastle Technical High School as a dental assistant in 2019 and has been in the dental field since then. She started out as a dental assistant for a couple years then gradually transitioned over to the administrative side of the dental field. She is also bilingual in English and Spanish. When she is not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her family. Yanni is engaged and has a daughter.
