Oral Cancer Screening

Dr. Nate Bent exams a patient in and exam room.

As a routine part of your exam, the dentist will perform an oral cancer screening. The dentist will visually inspect your mouth (including lips), gums, and tongue, will feel inside your mouth and the underside of your jaw and neck looking for any abnormal lesions or lumps.

While using tobacco products and drinking alcohol are high risk behaviors for developing oral cancer, anyone can develop oral cancer.
