Dr. Nate Bent exams a patient in and exam room.

Preventing dental problems before they occur is one of the best reasons to make regular visits to your dentist and hygienists. Your dentist will recommend the best schedule for you for regular exams—usually every 6 months.

At a routine visit, your dentist will discuss any changes in your medications and physical health and discuss any current dental concerns. During the visit, your dentist will examine your teeth and gums for signs of tooth decay, gingivitis, and other health problems. They will discuss your dental habits: brushing, flossing, using mouthwash.

If you had digital X-rays taken, the dentist will review these with you and make recommendations about treatment, if needed.

In keeping with our whole health philosophy, the dentist will even talk to you about your diet. A mouth-healthy diet includes foods high in whole grains, vegetables and fruits, and dairy products.

Be sure to use this time to bring up any dental concerns you may be having. The better we get to know you as a patient, the better we are able to provide you with individualized care.

If we identify any problems, our team will discuss all your options and provide you with the information you need to make an informed decision on your treatment plan.
